The move will benefit around 8,000 employees.
A meeting of the state cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal decided to provide emoluments equal to minimum of the pay band plus grade pay of the specific category to contractual employees working in different departments of the state government with effect from next month.
"It decided to follow recommendations of provident fund regulation and development authority for management of new contributory pension scheme on the lines of Central government and other states and link the same with the market trends so as to ensure maximum gains to the contributing employees," social welfare minister Sarveen Chaudhary told reporters briefing about cabinet decisions.
